Can’t make it to the tradeshow floor at MWC 2019? Not to worry. From 5G modems to AI robots and avatars, Hall 6 was full of activity. Here’s the latest from MediaTek, in case you missed it:
5G is the talk of the town – literally. Conversations around 5G are everywhere in Barcelona, and MediaTek is certainly part of them. As a strong contender in the race to commercialization, MediaTek announced advancements to its 5G portfolio to power the rollout of 5G devices in 2020 for the sub-6GHz spectrum. The Helio M70 5G modem, MediaTek’s first generation 5G solution was showcased for the intelligent home running 5G data transfer speeds as well as mmWave over-the-air tests of MediaTek’s 5G antenna arrays. The Helio M70 demo runs at 4.2Gbps 5G data speeds the industry’s fastest sub-6GHz live 5G modem demonstration to date.
But how and where is this modem being tested? MediaTek announced a number of partnerships that further validate what the company is doing with 5G and where the industry is heading. Partnerships with industry leaders include Anritsu Corporation, Keysight Technologies, Rohde & Schwarz, China Mobile and NOKIA – all advancing 5G development.
Additionally, the company announced its collaboration with device makers and RF leaders to drive 5G smartphone innovation. Companies including Oppo, Vivo and top tier RF suppliers, including Skyworks, Qorvo and Murata are working together to define a front-end module solution that accommodates 5G components without impacting a smartphone’s slim profile and stylish design.
